Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are diseases that are spread by having sexual contact with someone who has an STD.
The Center for Disease Control, reported that 1 out of 4 teens are infected with an STD each year. Causing over half of them to been of had an STD by the age of 25. Which then leads to over half of young adults being infected with an STD by the age 30. These numbers are related to the fact that so many teens and young adults are very sexually active and take more risks. Although, anyone that has sex can get an STD.
How Do You Get An STD?
STDs are transmitted through blood, vaginal fluids, semen, and the mucous membranes (broken skin, inside the mouth area). Among teens and young adults that are starting to have sexual contact, don’t feel that oral sex is dangerous. When in fact, oral sex leads to many transmissions of STDs. Even anal sex, is another high risk form of STD, that usually causes bleeding. Also, reports of sharing needles during drug use, carries more of a risk than any other form of STD today.
How To Prevent An STD?
Abstinence is the #1 sure way to prevent any kind of STD. By not having sex until marriage, is the way that our Lord stated that it should be. But in reality, we all know that many of us just will not do the right thing.
So, this is where I tell you the truth. If you are going to have sex, protect yourself. Women, DEMAND that your male partner wear a condom. Dont let it be an option. And dont let him tell you anything different. You are not only putting yourself at risk for catching an STD but also your at risk to get pregant. Either way, if your not ready for these types of consequences, then its best to be safe.
Now for the men. I am going to say this and mean it. First of all, if your not ready to be a daddy, wear protection. And if your really not ready to deal with the reality of having an STD, wear protection too. If you want to be considered a man, then act like one. A man is supposed to protect his women by making sure she’s safe. Your no less of a man if you wear a condom than if you don’t. Be a man, wrap it up!
Now, to both male and female. Don’t let someone decided what is or not best for you. This is your life. Only you are in control of it. Limit your sexual partners. Try to find someone that will be intimate with only you while your together. Get to know a person before you even think of having sex with them. This will surely keep your risks of getting an STD lower.
